Birgunj teachers protest for cheating

At least 644 teachers of Bara, Parsa and Rautahat districts called a protest against the strict security in the exam centre in Harikhethan College of Birgunj on Sunday

Higher Secondary Education Board had organised a special examination for the teachers who had passed SLC examination, to grant them certificates equivalent to the higher level education after a 10 month training period.

Meanwhile, the teachers forming a Teachers Struggle Committee have been demanding that the exam centre should be relocated to their home district and the existing exam centre of Birgunj should be cancelled and the examination reorganized.

The representatives of the struggle committee members handed a memorandum of their three point demand to CDO Yadav Prasad Koirala today.

Earlier on Friday on being prevented from cheating during the examination the teachers turned aggressive and emerged from the exam hall chanting slogans against the system.

The exam centre head Dr. Bhagawan Yadav said that they could pass the exam without cheating but a trend has been set in which one needs to cheat in order to pass the exam.
