Public schools close for second day

Public schools across the country has been shut down due to educational strike called by the Relief Teachers' Central Struggle Committee (RTCSC) on Monday as well.

The teachers recruited under the relief quota have been agitating for the last six months, demanding facilities and salaries on a par with permanent teachers together with promotion.  Monday is the second day of the three-day education strike called by the agitating teachers.

According to the Ministry of Education (MoE), over 38,000 relief teachers were appointed during the Maoist insurgency to cope with increasing number of students in community schools in the Western Tarai.
