Major parties agree timely statute
 

Leaders of major political parties have agreed on Tuesday to accelerate the process of constitution writing and to issue on time.

 

During a 25-party meeting called by the Constitutional Committee this morning, they agreed to hold broad discussions and seek consensus to issue the constitution by May 28 deadline.

 

After the Prime Minister Madhav Nepal said major parties and others agreed to remain active and carry out necessary groundwork to issue the constitution on time as the time to draft the constitution is very limited.

 

Meanwhile, UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal remarked that the new constitution can be drafted in the stipulated time if all the concerned stakeholders worked hard for the same.

 

Constitutional Committee Chairman Nilamber Acharya said the leaders of all parties were invited in the meeting to specially discuss on the challenges and way out to issue the constitution on time.

 

Most of the leaders speaking in the meeting had stressed on issuing a brief constitution within the deadline if the complete constitution was not possible.
